This presentation will discuss the technology and economic feasibility of installing solar photovoltaic systems on homes and businesses in South Florida including hurricane resistant designs, new building integrated solar designs, grid tie systems, battery backed systems, net metering, power company, state and federal incentives, the future of the technology and the future of the incentive programs.  We will also cover commercial depreciation and residential and commercial return on investment.

 

Ed Strobel, Vice-President, Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy & President, Sunshine Solar Services, Inc. Ed Strobel holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University and an MBA from Georgia State (finished at UM).   Mr Strobel is the Vice president for the Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy, a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting solar in Florida (www.FARENERGY.ORG), he was also appointed by the Mayor of Fort Lauderdale to serve on the Citizens Sustainability Green board and is the President of Sunshine Solar Services, Inc.    Mr. Strobel also has 3,000,000 watts of wind on his farm in Illinois and has a partially solar powered highly efficient home in Fort Lauderdale and was one of two US solar companies chosen to participate and speak at an international solar convention in Turin, Italy  last summer.
